DocuWriter.ai — Custom Prompts Generator Guide

1 · What the Generator Does

Ask any question or give any instruction about a repository you've synced to DocuWriter. The tool feeds only the files you select, plus your free‑form prompt, into our LLM and returns a focused, Markdown‑formatted answer—architecture overviews, how‑to guides, migration notes… whatever you need.

2 · Where to Find It

  1. Open Git Connections in the top navigation.
  2. In the left‑hand Tools list, click Custom promptsGo ▶.

(If you haven't synced a repo yet, add one first)

3 · UI & Required Fields

Field / Control Purpose
**Repository / Git connection *** Choose the repo whose files you want the model to read.
Custom prompt (Optional) Free‑form instruction (e.g., “Explain how to use the package”).
**Output language *** Select the language of the response (English, Spanish, etc.).
File tree selector Tick folders or individual files the LLM should examine.

Tip: Select only the files relevant to your question for faster, more accurate answers.

4 · Typical Workflow

  1. Pick your repo - drop‑down at the top.
  2. Write a prompt - keep it clear and goal‑oriented.
  3. Choose output language.
  4. Select files/folders in the right‑hand tree.
  5. Click Start generating.
  6. The formatted response appears in pane below.

5 · Post‑Generation Actions

Button / Menu Item Function
Edit Tweak the Markdown answer manually.
Download ⏷ Save the response as .md or .pdf.
Add to my Space Store the answer in a documentation Space for your team.
Share Generate a read‑only link with optional expiry.

6 · Best Practices

  1. Be explicit — “Explain how to extend the Currency service provider” yields better output than “Explain this package.”
  2. Scope the file selection — feeding an entire repo may dilute the answer.
  3. Iterate — if the first response isn't perfect, refine the prompt and click Start generating again.

7 · Troubleshooting

Symptom Fix / Explanation
“No files selected” warning Tick at least one file/folder in the tree.
Response seems off‑topic Narrow the file selection or rewrite the prompt with more detail.
Repo not in list Make sure it's synced under Git Connections → Add Repository.
