Write a focused guide from selected source files

Use Custom prompts when you need a specific explanation or document based on selected files from an imported repository.

Configure the request

1. Open Git Connections and choose Custom prompts from the repository tools.
2. Select the imported repository and output language.
3. Select the files relevant to the question, including related code needed to explain the behavior.
4. Write an instruction that identifies the audience and expected result.
5. Start generation and review the answer.

For example:

Explain how this application refreshes expired access tokens. Write for a developer integrating the client. Include the failure response and recovery behavior supported by the selected files.

Select enough context

A single handler may not include its validation, authorization or error handling. Add the related files when those details matter. Avoid selecting the entire repository for a narrowly scoped question if that introduces unrelated material.

Review and reuse

Check the output against the selected source. If the answer lacks an important dependency, revise the file selection and prompt rather than asking for unsupported detail.
