What is DocuWriter?
DocuWriter is an AI-powered platform for creating, updating and managing complete, structured documentation for entire codebases. Teams can connect repositories and generate documentation covering architecture, modules, services, classes, functions, dependencies, APIs, diagrams, READMEs, and other technical components. It supports both individual repositories and larger multi-repository systems.
Follow the documentation lifecycle
- Connect your code. Authorize a supported Git provider and choose the repository and branch to document.
- Generate a structured documentation Space. Choose the intended reader, review the outline, and generate the pages.
- Manage and share the result. Edit, organize, search and collaborate in Spaces. Keep internal material private or publish selected Spaces for external readers.
- Keep it current. Connect the Space to repositories with Autopilot and review proposed updates when the code changes.
Start with Create your first documentation Space. You do not need to configure the API or an AI assistant to follow this workflow.
Choose a guide for your task
| I want to… | Start here |
|---|---|
| Document a project for my engineering team | Generate complete documentation |
| Help a new engineer understand a project | Choose the audience |
| Improve an existing documentation Space | Find and fill documentation gaps |
| Maintain docs as repositories change | Set up Autopilot |
| Work through an external AI assistant | Connect with MCP |
| Integrate documentation into a script or service | API quickstart |
README, release notes, tests, diagrams and other focused generators support this lifecycle. They are useful when you need a particular output rather than a complete documentation set.
