Export a Space to Confluence
Export a DocuWriter Space to Confluence when your team needs to read the documentation alongside its existing knowledge base. An export publishes a copy to the selected Confluence destination; plan how you will refresh that copy as the source Space changes.
Connect your Confluence account
Open Integrations → Confluence Connections → Add connection. Choose the authentication method for your instance:
| Connection | Details |
|---|---|
| Confluence Cloud with API token | Use the email and API token for an account with access to the destination. |
| Confluence Cloud with OAuth | Follow Connect with Confluence and approve browser authorization. |
| Confluence Server or Data Center | Enter the server URL and a personal access token. |
The account needs permission to create or update pages. Creating a new target space and uploading images require the corresponding permissions. A connection that authenticates successfully can still lack permission for a particular destination.
Export the Space
- Open your DocuWriter Space and its Overview.
- Select Confluence and choose the connection.
- Choose an existing Confluence space, or create one with a name and unique key.
- Select whether to create new pages or update existing pages.
- Start the export and wait for its completion or failure notification.
You need permission to manage the DocuWriter Space. If the product displays an upgrade requirement for the Space’s export action, resolve that before starting.
Choose update behavior deliberately
Create new pages avoids overwriting an existing page with the same title. Update existing pages updates matching pages when possible and creates pages when there is no match. Before updating a shared knowledge base, inspect how the previous export maps to destination pages.
Folders become parent pages and nested documents remain beneath them. Common headings, lists, tables, code, images, and diagrams are converted for Confluence. After the first export, inspect representative pages, nested structure, and images in the destination.
Troubleshooting
For authorization or permission errors, reconnect and confirm destination access. If the space key already exists, select the existing space or choose another key. For missing images, check attachment permissions. Read the failure notification before retrying, and inspect whether any pages were already created to avoid unnecessary duplicates.
